Pain Treatments
Deciding what treatment to use for a specific condition is a very important decision that is made by both the physician and the patient. The doctor is trained in the medical knowledge, but the patient has the final say. I believe that following the standard of care procedures, you really can't go wrong.
Once a correct diagnosis is obtained (which may require advanced diagnositic procedures like X-ray, CT or MRI etc. and laboratory analysis etc.), the program should first start with conservative treatments and therapies and then if the patient does not respond as expected, more agressive treatment options may be considered.
At this point, specialist physicians, such as orthopedics or neurology, are often consulted for surgical or non-surgical options. Even Pain Management specialists may be consulted for alternative treatment options. Please find some information below and you will see links to informational web sites within each treatment type.
